The cyber crime branch cell of the detection of crime branch, nabbed Devanand Maruti Konkane (29), who is considered to be the mastermind behind all the recent credit card thefts and misuse.
Konkane, a Mumbai-based resident, used to work as a software engineer in a private company and was well-versed with hacking. His gang included five-six other people and was active for last four years..........
The gang which operated from Ahmedabad purchased all the information through an anonymous site (the site’s name is yet to be revealed by the police). The cards were prepared manually by the gang once the data were retrieved from the site. While Konkane planned, others collected required details. One of them even made the magnetic strip which made the card ready to be swiped.............
All the members of this gang are well-versed with the software. They have cheated thousands of people and made crores of rupees through these cheats at various different parts of the country..........
Credit card frauds are conducted after accessing the data of the users. The miscreants collect the information about the credit card holder either through the internet or through the gadget in which the credit card has been swiped.............
