MOHALI: Punjab cyber crime wing branch on Wednesday arrested a 25-year-old software professional, who after facing rejection in love created a fake profile of a girl on Facebook (FB) and sent expletive messages to her friends.

Speaking to TOI, state crime branch SSP Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh said, "We have arrested a Chandigarh resident who created fake profile of a girl on Facebook.

The accused has been identified as Nitin Arora, a software professional residing in Sector 44." He said the state crime branch had registered a case under sections 66A, 66D of the IT Act and 419 and 506 of the IPC on the complaint of the girl, who is a BDS student in Mohali. Sources said the accused was interested in the girl, who used to stay in his locality. The girl, however, did not respond to his overtures.

"Because of this, the boy created a fake profile and uploaded her picture. He used to send obscene messages through this fake profile. The case was investigated by a team of officers, comprising inspector Bahadur Singh and Ved Prakash of cyber wing," said the SSP.
